Bigun. You win the internet!
I just tore down my 506 and located and snipped those wires.
Being more of a networking individual myself, I'm more comfortable tearing down cisco switches than workstations.
Thank you so much for providing this fix. I can finally use my 506 the way it was meant to be used with windows 8.
