OK I just made a booteble DVD from that ISO file I downloaded using that tool , this time we did not even get as far as with the USB before we got an error.  I have attahed a picture of it

If I hit Enter it comes back to this screen if I hot escape Windows loads and then it does the same thing as when doing it from the USB drive , I gte to a Window Where do you want to install windows and it cannot see any drives there ,  there is a link option to load driver

I think I need to replace the orginal disk and so that both cables are attached too even though I was told the one did not matter as its a standalone disk.  Look earlier in this post and then I can use my recovery disks as that way I will get my MS Office back as well

I finanlly got the exact replacement drive and I am still having issues after installing an dtrying to use my recover disks. I get teh error : No Boot disk detected,  I am ready to totally give up on this computer , what a pity as I am not sure what to do now

OK so it booted off teh recovery disk and then a took a long time loading the first one and then when I went to recover to factory settings I got that same message:    "The hard drive of this computer is smaller than the original shipped drive, the recovery process cannot continue"  BUT its exactly the same drive as the original ??

The HP I have needs that extra disk cable, when that is plugged in then it starts the recovery process so everyone including Geek Squad who told me that was not necessary was no correct as far as this HP computer goes, I am now on my 3rd recovery disk so looking good so far
