Good morning:

Just curious - will the i7 4790K processor work in the following:

HP ENVY Phoenix 810-160

Motherboard MS-7826(Kaili)

Processor i7 4770 3.9 Ghz Turbo

I happen to have one (4790K) given to me from a friend (it would not work in his Dell system) and trying to find out if it would work in the above system.  I know there are no big gains in performance, etc., just wondering..........

Thanks for any information.

Hello @Mike_Fleharty,

I understand that you are wondering if the Intel Core i7 4790 (Haswell) 3.6 GHz Quad Core will work in your HP ENVY Phoenix 810-160 Desktop PC. According to the Processor Upgrade section of the HP ENVY Phoenix 810-160 Desktop PC Product Specifications page the answer would be YES you can use it as it is one of the supported processors listed for your computer.

I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

Thanks for the info - I appreciate your help.  I looked on the support page but didn't find i7 4790K, so thanks.  I'll install tonight and provide an update when I've had a chance to do some bench marking.

Good morning:

I installed the i7 4790K last night in an attempt to upgrade from my i7 4770.  When I power-up, the lights and fans come on but the system will not boot.  Computer runs for about 1-2 min and then shuts down.  The monitors remain in the sleep mode - any thoughts or suggestions?

Your help is greatly appreciated...........

The 4790K is not on the list, and it's likely it didn't work.  The original poster did not respond later, whether they achieved success.  The 4790 is on the list, as is the 4770K.  The 4790K is (I believe) a 4.0 GHz processor, and even if installed, the motherboard might not run it at 4 GHz.
