Hi
I'm looking for some help with windows vista. It's my parents PC and they've had it a while, although they don't use it a great deal so still class it as "not that old"
It works fine and they can get on the internet with it, but i've noticed recently that it won't recieve any updates. When I check in Windows update and click the "Check for Updates" button, it just looks as though it's checking but it's been doing that for over 24 hours.
I did think that i would have been able to update them to Windows 7 as the HP Total Care Action Centre keeps popping up with a message saying "Windows 7 Upgrade Eligibilty" but the link in it doesn't work.
Can anyone help with either advising how i can get the Windows updates to work (Providing they still do them for Vista) or if anyone knows if I can updrage the PC to Windows 7?
Many Thanks
Paul

Hello;
Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
First of all, Microsoft just announced end of support for Vista, so it won't be getting any windows updates anymore.
Second, while you probably COULD have upgraded to Win7 years ago, when MS was distributing their Anytime Upgrade, I don't know if you can still do that today.
You would have to purchase Win7 to do the Upgrade, and there's no guarantee that it will work.
