I just bought a Pavilion Elite d5200t ATX running Vista Home Premium 64 Bit. The keyboard that came with it was replaced with a KB-0630 keyboard. This new keyboard has certain keys (more like Buttons) at both ends. On the left, it has three buttons - one with a ?, another with a Globe icon on it, and one says "Club hp" on it. These three, when pressed, are not doing anything. On the right side of this keyboard, the keys/buttons are for video/cd with functions like fast forward, pause etc.
I am trying to figure out why the three buttons on the left side, listed above, are not doing anything. Email contact with tech support at HP has not been very helpful.
I have searched HP KB database and also did Google search for this keyboard (KB-0630) but can't find anyhting, including any descriptive material as to what these keys/buttosn are for!
I sure can use any help you may be able to give me in locating any reference document on this keyboard.
Thank you.

Did you download the driver for that particular keyboard? Have the keys been mapped to a particular function?

No and No. I have gone to HP support web page but cant even find anything for this keyboard model! And, I can't find any user guide to know anyhitng about how or if I need to do any mapping! 99+% of the keys work just fine -- it is these three that I happen to clcik and find not working!
HP email tech support have not helped any either!

I have tried several times to puzzle out the keys on this keyboard. I can find absolutely no information anywhere. I bought a Pavillion a6152n from Circuit City and suppose that now I am out on the proverbial limb.
Playing with the keys, I pressed the half moon one and had to turn the computer off to get it working again. On the right side there should be something that will eject discs or whatever but who wants to experiment when you are doing something else.
If anyone, anywhere, knows where to get documentation on these mystery products, it would be appreciated. I suppose that somewhere in the innards of XP or Vista there are functions to take care of all of this but who knows where even to start looking? HP is no help.

You do not seem to understand that if you did not download the software/driver for that motherboard, then many keys will do nothing at all. The "half moon" key that you mentioned is used to put the computer in low power mode. The fact that it would not wake up indicates you have other drivers missing.
You also assume that the OS (Vista or XP) has drivers for everything when it most certainly does not.

I have gotten the pavilion redirect screen but could never get any good results as the screen refers you to a generic ps2 keyboard. My computer is not a new one and I have disregarded these buttons as they seemed more trouble than they are worth. That I would get a keyboard from HP without the proper drivers and no information is not understandable.
I had a problem with the dvd drive not ejecting and tried pressing the buttons on the right side of the keyboard in hopes of getting some results but nothing happened. Reading the label on the back of the keyboard gave me this model number and I googled it and ended up here. No instruction manuals anywhere.
I also receive HP Update regularly and have always been told my drivers and software are up-to-date.
I suppose my only option is to try to find specific drivers on the HP site and hope that works. At least it sounds like a good recommendation to try for me. Thanks.

The vast majority of OEM keyboard and mice will work without dedicated drivers, but will function only as a generic 101-key keyboard. The system and device manager will not correctly identify the specific model of the mouse and/or keyboard until their respective drivers are loaded. What you are seeing is absolutely normal..and not specific to HP. The drivers for your keyboard are on the restore disc, and also on the HP website for your particular model.
If you can live without the non-standard keys and special keys, you can continue to use the keyboard as you are now. It will not cause any problems.
The CD tray issue can be caused by a number of things. It occurs mostly with older drives where the tray has gone out of alignment and becomes difficult to open. Generlly, it is much more cost effective to simply buy a new internal CD?DVD burner; you can find them very inexpensively.

The driver for this keyboard is NOT to be found any where in the web, nor on HP's own web site! Give us an URL if you can fiund it anywhere.
HP sent me this keyboard as a replacement for the keyboard that came with my new d5200t PC, and they did not include anything with the keyboard! My PC is less than a month old and I bought it from HP!

You can start here:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph06267
and then find the correct model that your keyboard shipped with.
I can guarantee you it *IS* on the HP website...you just have to know which models the keyboard you have shipped with.

Hi terry6. I have noticed this problem of a lack of easily findable information about HP's multimedia keyboards also. I see a driver for the a6152n multimedia keyboard on the Software and Driver Downloads page for the a6152n BUT it is tagged as being specifically for 32-bit systems. U running 32 bit or 64 bit on ur system? I wonder does it make a difference if the os is 32 or 64-bit in this kind of case with a keyboard driver? I guess you don't know the answer but maybe someone else does? NoNoBadDog? 🙂
Mostly I am asking this because I am running into a similar situation where the special keyboard buttons don't work because I wiped my hdd and changed my original os from 32-bit to 64-bit. I would like to get the multimedia buttons on my keyboard to function again. But not available in the 64-bit version for my system on the hp site. With the Vista driver only the special keys for sleep and volume work.
Also, perhaps not specific to a particular keyboard but this document has a list and descriptions of the functions on some of hp's multimedia keyboards. Look at pages 60-62. Hope this helps.
::edited because when I origianlly posted I didn't realize that there were two separate keyboard issues with two separate forum users (PKFlo and terry6)! I was confused!
::edited again because evidently I was *still* confused.
