Hi,
All the 'softkeys' on this keyboard are customisable even though the Buttons tab may only be showing some (usually 5) of them.
This can be done by manually editing the cfg.ini file in the c:\hp\kbd directory.
Copy your existing cfg.ini file to another folder, just in case.
Open the cfg.ini file with your chosen editor and go to the
[CurrentSct] section.
Then, using the "STOPPING PLAYBACK" button and a typical prog as an example enter:
(If there is already an entry for STOPPING PLAYBACK either remove or edit it accordingly).
STOPPING PLAYBACK = "MMJB|C:\Program Files\MUSICMATCH\MUSICMATCH Jukebox\mmjb.exe"
on a new line.
The left side of the | is for display when loading and the right is the executable.
Note that the key descriptor in this line (e.g. STOPPING PLAYBACK in the above example) should match the key descriptor in the [ButtonIDs] section of the cfg.ini file. (If it doesn't work first time check the syntax!)
I also changed the [ButtonType] to '2|4' on the keys I amended though this may have been superfluous (isn't trial and error fun!). Button numbers to key function/descriptor are again in the [ButtonIDs] section.
NB: After a change you will need to reboot the system for it to take effect.
For info I left the SLEEP and TRAY EJECT buttons as they were.
The hard part will be printing and cutting out the icons to stick next to the re-designated buttons. What a faff.

Okay, if anyone else is still having this problem, here is what I did for mine. I have XP with SP3 and an x86. I first downloaded and installed .NET. The filename is NetFx20SP2_x86.exe. I then downloaded and installed sp26752.exe from the HP site. You see, the HP driver for the keyboard will not work without the .NET installed first. Somehow, everyone has been missing this. I only caught it because, out of desperation, I ended up on the Microsoft site trying to run a MrFixit troubleshooter for the problem only to find out it would not run without the .NET. After installing the .NET, and still not being able to run the MrFixit, I decided to look at the keyboard functions in the control panel and was quite surprised to see the magic word “BUTTONS” on one of the tabs. That’s right, bow down when you see the king walk by.
