Hi vansie59,
Welcome to the HP Forums. I will be happy to help you find the driver for your media card reader. I will need some additional information to be able to assist. What operating system are you running? There are a number of different models in the Pavilion D7 series and I will need your product number.
Find your product number on a desktop:

Finding your OS:

@mikevp wrote:I just upgraded my Pavilion a1644x from XP to Windows 7, and I can not find the drivers for the SD/flash/etc., memory card reader. The cards don't show up under "My Computer", and the reader does not show up in the device manager at all, even after doing "scan for hardware changes". I'm sure it's just that a driver needs to be installed, but there is no driver listed for the memory card reader on the page with the other drivers for this machine. I tried looking for Vista 32 drivers, too, since those should probably work on Windows 7. No luck.
Does anyone know where I can find this driver?

I just had the same problem on an HP Pavilion p6740f after a full desctructive recovery from the Recovery partition followed by installing Win7 SP1 and all current updates. After every reboot the system would make a series of "doink" noises as if USB devices were being attached but display no error or success messages.
In device manager, there were four yellow exclamation point symbols next to four "Removable Devices", one for each of the card slots. They all said unable to Start. Plugging a SDHC card in resulted in nothing, and none of the drives appeared in My Computer (er rather just "Computer" in Win7).
After searching out here for drivers and finding none and trying to do Update Driver in Device Manager, which just said the best drivers were already installed, I Removed all four "Portable Devices" from Device manager, and also "USB Mass Storage Device" from under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers", then rebooted the system.
As it rebooted all the devices were found and added successfully and the yellow exclamantion points went away, but the drives still did not show up in My Computer. Then it occurred to me that Win7 has an option under Forder/View Options to not display empty drives. After unchecking that, all the drives appear in Computer and at least the one that i tested now works normally.
