The company that I work uses HP w2207 for majority of the PC in the building.

I currently have 7-8 monitors that are experiencing this issue. 2-3 more about to go into this state.

 

I have tried all types of methods troubleshooting these.

 

Swapping out VGA cables - not working

Tried using DVI port - not working

Swapped out Power cable - not working

Hard reset on monitor (unplug and hold power more than 1 minute then test again) - not working

I have tested a working monitor - it works (This is not cabling issue nor PC/graphic card) 

 

This is the symtop:

Monitor will display booting screen once it starts loading, it turns off. PC boots to Windows, monitor will display for 2-3 seconds then turns off. Holding menu button or pressing power button then shows no signal.

 

HP tech support is absolutely awesome as they do not help if your Monitor past warranty period. No recall or known issue exists in their system but I have google about this issue. I see quite a lot of people have been experiencing this issue. 

 

Please let me know what it can be done before I have to dispose all these monitor and purchase from another vendor. It would definitely not be HP anymore.

You’re getting the message no signal.

 

Here is a link that will walk you through the steps to troubleshoot the issues.

Start at the section Startup screens display, but the message opens before the Windows desktop opens.

 

Let me know how everything goes.

while those tips appear to be good, many of them start with....."after starting up the computer you notice".....there is where I get lost because my screen wants to go into sleep or hibernation mode IN THE MIDDLE OF ME UPDATING A WEBSITE and I HAVE 6 TABS open and I LOSE MY GRAPHICS!  this is where things are dicey....and I fear for the people below my office window as I have to physically stop myself from throwing the monitor out the window.... ha!

 

Has nothing to do with the resolution settings. I do feel that there is something being sent to my computer from a Windows update that might FORCE it into sleep mode....without me being aware...

 

SO - before i begin a large project i simply double check the "go to sleep after__  hours"  or "go to low power mode after __ hours" settings and make sure everything is set to NEVER.

 

Again, all my friends are like "buy a MAC" but seriously half of them don't even know how to use their own computers...like "where is my stuff?"  "how do I open another document?"  "where is that dropbox thing?"  so --------

 

i just hope someone here might know what is really happening....it is not the usual "drivers" "resolution" "are you sure its plugged in?" kinda answer.

 

So now that I've posted here I think it's going to hit me today....murphy's law....time will tell........

 

just plain old annoying......

 

and again - I doubt it's my monitors issue...I think it's the computer telling it.......

I had tried those methods previously before...

 

I gave it another go, but same result.

 

Boot logo comes up, then F8.

Before I can even scroll down to lowest resolution, screen goes blank.

Attempt 2 try, selected lowest resolution then goes blank.

 

I can heard Windows have booted up (Windows startup sound) but I'm still stuck with a blank screen. Press menu will still give me no signal. After several attempts, I got to menu screen and hit factory reset. Same result, a blank screen.

 

Tested few other monitors with this issue, no luck for all of them.

I have tried all the steps i could with this.They eather didnt work or didnt make any sense.Is there any way you give a more simple lists of steps?

I just had this problem.  Same monitor (w2207h), connected to my laptop.  I don't know what brought it on, but one day I just couldn't stop it from going to sleep as soon as it was connected to the laptop.  Couldn't access the monitor front panal control buttons; screwing with the laptops display settings didn't work; system restore, nothing.  My laptop was able to recognize the monitor, but the **bleep** thing just wouldn't wake up.

 

Eventually, at my wit's end, I yanked the power cord out of the monitor, waited a few seconds, then plugged it back in. Voilà!  The monitor sprang right to life.

 

I hope the solution is so simple for someone else.

I am using a HP G50 laptop (purchased Dec '08) and an external HP 2009m monitor (purchased Jul '09) 

 

This issue started about 7 or 8 months ago directly after a Windows update.  At the time the monitor was paired up to my husband's desktop, a HP Pavilion p6-2128 (purchased about a year ago).  I put it back on my laptop, and it went into sleep mode immediately as well.  I reinstalled drivers from MS website and it seem to resolve the problem.  Hubby didn't want the monitor back (he liked his older one better) so I just stored it away until a few days ago when I needed a better screen quality then my laptop provides.

 

Again, the monitor was going into sleep mode immediately upon connecting to the laptop.  I tried installing the drivers again by downloading them from MS but it did not correct the problem this time.  I tried changing the power options as suggested, but that didn't work either.

 

Today I dragged out the original CD that came with the monitor, I uploaded the monitor setup software again and, what do you know, I am using the monitor to type this information. It has stayed on for about 30 minutes now. 

 

I will keep the monitor CD handy as next Windows update I know they will screw it up again.

 

So, if you can still put your hands on your original CD that came with your monitor, give this a try.  Maybe it will work for you as well.

Crap.  I just rebooted my laptop and it lost the monitor setup information.  Monitor going to sleep again.  I guess I will have to run the CD each time I want to use my monitor with this laptop.

Well, back to square zero.  When I tried to reinstall from the CD it said the drivers were already there.  Cannot get it to recognize the monitor now.  So, hopefully, you've read this far and haven't gone looking for your original monitor software installation CD.   *sigh*
