The Power Supply used in this model (part number: 508153-001) is a 320 W "BTX standard" with Active PFC (Power Factor Correction).  While these OEM Supplies generally follow the ATX power supply standard, there are differences.

1.) Power cables exit on the right hand side of the PS case, instead of the left hand side.

2.) DC power connectors are often customized for the motherboard (Dell routinely does this with their OptiPlex).

ModDIY in Hong Kong provides Power Supply adapter cables, for SOME these instances.

I have used ModDIY for past 5 years,

and designed specific upgrade solutions they now sell (USB 3.0 for s5000 Front I/O).

They work best when one of theur clients/customers has provided reverse engineering (part numbers, wiring) to assure

a working solution.

First, i want to thank you but i have 2 questions. My main power connector is a 6 pin and all i can find is 8 pin.

Also, if i bought a new power supply and bought this adapter will i be ok?

Retail / Consumer Power Supplies (Corsair, Thermalake, Athena, Seasonic, etc.) follow the

ATX12V connector standard (supplying 3.3, 5, and 12 VDC at correct amperage).

Your motherboard DOESN'T follow that standard -- that's a problem for the computer you have.

Dell has this proprietary issue (many of their computers),

with power supplies that only provide 12 VDC with a special power connector (and pinout) on motherboards --

you are forced to use their OEM built power supplies (Delta, others).

---

HP / Compaq have some models (business workstations, server motherboards) that are not "Intel Standard".

So you're saying that i can't replace the power supply

I found this delta model at ebay that matches my requirements it's: 500W for Dell Studio XPS 8000 8100 Delta DPS-350VB C ATX0350P5W Power Supply

CAUTION:  You are NOT in the Plug-N-Play "consumer world"

Dell, HP, and other manufacturers have NOT published their Proprietary usage (Variations from Intel ATX standard), in this area (DC power, different connectors).

They may not be compatible (Different connector keying, Different Voltages -- which can damage motherboards), current answer is UNKNOWN.

Assurance (that it will work) requires Reverse Engineering and Electronics Knowledge ...

I do not provide comment / advice in this area, unless I have personally performed the research work.

Hello Rami

If I may add my humble thoughts and echo beatgr.

Proceed at your own risk as you could fry motherboard and components.
