Recieving error system fan has failed. service pc to prevent damage                                                                                                                                           Need to know where fan is located as well as specific fan info so I can replace it. this error only happens after I shut down then start up later not after a restart. GPU tempterature is running anywhere from 170F to 200F at times.

Any help on how to locate and replace this fan would be appreciated. The other two internal fans are running fine. Cannot find third fan.

Thanks,

Tamala

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand you are receiving an error - "system fan has failed",

Don't worry I have a few steps to help you identify the issue:

I have this HP Article that pertains to HP and Compaq desktop computers.

One of the following errors, or similar errors, appear when the computer is turned on:

CPU Fan Failed. Press F2 to continue to boot. Otherwise, the system will power down in five seconds. Have system serviced immediately.

or

"ERROR: CPU Fan Has Failed! PC will automatically power down in a few seconds. Service the PC immediately to prevent damage to the PC."

Use one of the following sections, depending on when the error occurs:

Error occurs the first time the computer is started or happens unexpectedly
Error occurs immediately after installing a BIOS update

For more details and steps: Click here

To locate and replace the fan:

If your device is not covered by the warranty, please visit HP Partsurfer using your product number,

you could look for the part number of the defective part, then use the HP Parts Store to order the genuine parts from HP directly.

Keep me posted,

If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
