I am having a HP touchsmart 300-1360 pc,and was working fine till after a lighting storm that hit my area and cooked my router and my network card stop working and it was not listed on the device manager. After a few days the reatek PCIe was back on the device manager some how but with no active and status light.I order one by ebay. When i removed the brocking card it was still listed on the device manager that the card is working fine when there was actually no realtek card.
I replace it with the one i bought but still there was no active and status light. I downloaded a tool from the realtek website (Realtek-Ethernet Diagnostic Utility)and ran it says the card if working fine but still no active or status light. The only time the status and active light come on is when am running the diagnostic tool.
I have done a factury restore, update the driver,Clear the Cmos but still nothing.
When i run the Diagnostic utility the active light yellow come on and the status light blinks 2 to 3 times and that is it.
Thank for any help

I take it you also have a new router since the old one was friend correct? If you plug the ethernet cable from the router to the computer, does the router port light up?
Also what operating system are you using? I think the problem may not be with the new card itself but perhaps a setting on the computer or something wrong with the ethernet cable/router port.

Double check Device Manager and make sure that the ethernet card is enabled.
By changing the ethernet cable you have isolated the problem. Does the router have DHCP enabled? DHPC is what routers use to assign a computer a network address unless you create static IP addresses. Have you tried another port on your router?
Do you have another computer currently connected to the network? If so is it wireless or connected through an ethernet cable?
Also is the replacement ethernet card the exact same model? Did you install the drivers for that model?

Good day Travis_c
Yes under Device manager the Card is enable.(this device is working properly) Driver Date 5/14/2009 version 7.2.1127.2008 .
The DHCP Should be enable ,the wireless card is listed with its Mac Address but the ethernet NIC is not.
I have tried all the ports on the router and nothing. The ports should be working good,I connected port 1 and 2 together and 3 and 4 and the lights came on.
No i do not have another computer on the network at the moment. The BOIS on my old computer got mess up and i have not been able to get it working.I use the wireless connection now.
Yes the replacement ethernet card is the same model. The number i use to order is the exact one on HP web site.
When i run the Realtek-Ethernet Diagnostic Utility, the green led light up and the orange lights on the MAC loopback test. The result is pass. On the cable the result is different at different times.
Thanks for the help.

The router seems to be fine.
I suggest downloading the latest ethernet driver from Realtek directly. Grab the Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Driver form the link below.

Go into Device Manager and right click on the Realtek adapter and choose uninstall. Then run the installer you just downloaded. Let me know if the problem still persists.

Hello Travis_c
I downloaded the drivers and instal but still no success.
Now when i run Windows Network Diagnostic the result is " An Ethernet cable is not properly plugged in or might be broken".
If there are any more solutions i will be greatfull.
Thank you again for your help.

I would like to re-verify what ethernet card you are using. The reason is that the Realtek RTL8111DL Gigabit port is integrated into the motherboard and is not removable. Did you add an ethernet card to the expansion slots or was one already there? I provided the driver for the RTL8111DL port which may not necessarily be the model of the card you purchased to replace it.

Hello Travis_c
Part # HP 517299-001 TouchSmart 300PC USB port,RJ45 & Audio I/O
This is the only ethernet card that came with my PC. My motherboard is not having any integrated ethernet card.
One other thing, I have taken out the card uninstal the drivers but in device manager under network adapters the is still Realtek RTL8168D/8111D family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20).
When i right klick and open properties it says (This device is working properly).
Thank you.

With the ethernet card removed and drivers uninstalled go to Device Manager. If you are continuing to see the card in Device Manager right click on it and choose uninstall. This should remove it from the list of network adapters. Shutdown the computer and put the card back in. Restart and see if Windows 7 auto finds the drivers. Before installing the drivers for the card see if it can connect to the router with the basic Windows 7 network drivers.
