I have a 4ish year old HP Pavilion g7.  It is not my every day computer, so I haven't signed on in a while. Now when I turn it on, it automatically goes straight to the Windows 10 download. The download is unsuccessful, so it restores to the old OS and restars. Immediately on restart, it tries downloading Windows 10 again. It's been stuck in this loop for hours. How can I bypass the whole thing to just be able to use the computer?

HI.

To solve this, you will have to uninstall the last update or the one causing the loop, to do this you have to enter into safe mode and look for a previous restore point or repair last known good boot, I leave the document where it explains you how To do this, once in safe mode: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03439317 , proceed to locate the last known update, we will follow the directory: Start >> Configuration >> Update and Security >> Windows Update >> Advanced Options >> View the history of updates.

Once within the history of updates installed so far, we will look for the last causes of the loop, in this case you must ensure well on the date of each of them and decide to uninstall the cause of the problem, as you will see on the top there are two options In this case choose the option to uninstall updates where you will be sent to a new window to remove the most recent updates known.

You can then block automatic updates To prevent Windows from reinstalling the update, there is a fix that provides a user interface to hide or show updates and can be downloaded from the Microsoft Download Center.

Getting into Safe mode in Win10 is really HARD -- not just pressing F8 as it was in prior OS versions.

First, you need Win10 install media to boot into the Advanced Startup Options (option 5 of this link): http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanced-startup-options-boot-windows-10-a.html

Second, you then need to select Safe mode (option 1 of this link: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2304-safe-mode-start-windows-10-a.html

You can download and create Win10 installation media using this link:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10

Good Luck
