HELP! I have installed a new front panel to my pc as one of the usbs had broken the external device was knocked and had twisted the usb internally. Sooo, i decided to buy a new 20pin / USB 3.0 cable to replace the old one.
After plugging in the 20pin connector to the MB, it dosnt seem to work. And says all of my drivers are upto date.
There is power being sent via the new cable as my external HDDs light is on. But as you can see from the photos there is a problem with the device. I have tryed alot of the fixes online but with no resulsts.
The Old usb cable will still work fine when plugged back into the MB, well the one port thats not bent.
Also i cant uninstall my Intel usb3.0 driver nor my root hub to reset the controller. It just go's on and on with no result.
I have ran the Microst usb tool and this has come back with ( USB controller has failed or not installed )
Any help would be great.

Hi! @FOXD1E, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand that you installed new front I/O port on your PC and the 3.0 port is not working on your PC.
Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- Right-click on the battery icon and select Power Option.
- Click on Change plan settings then Change advanced power settings.
- Expand USB settings and USB selective suspend settings and Disable it.
- Click Apply then OK.
- Check Power Management settings in Device Manager as well for your USB drivers.
- Once in Device Manager right click on USB driver and select Properties then click Power Management tab.
- Remove the check on Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
Let me know if this helps!
Cheers! 🙂

Hi thanks for your reply, i have tryed both of these methods now, it still displays the same errors in divice manager.. no joy..
i feel it may be a driver problem i have been onto the manufactures website of the I/O & they do not provide driiver downloads for the I/O.. Any other ideas would be helpfull.
I have just seen the error now say.
This device cannot start (Code 10)
The superspeed link to the usb device keeps going to an error state of compliance. If the device is removable, remove the device and then disable / enable from device manager to recover..... I did that still the same error codes..!!!
I feel there may be old registarry entrys for the old I/O that are causing conflict with the new one
Also the cable is slightly longer on the new I/O... Thorghts.

@FOXD1E, thanks for the response.
Thanks for trying out the steps.
HP does not have particular drivers for USB 3.0 port.
I think you have replaced the front I/O port with a wrong part.
Please find the part number for the front I/O port mentioned below.
809377-001 Cable - SATA3.0, 185mm, ST-ST, for RF
Replace the front I/O with the recommended part and it should work.
Hope this answers your query!
Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂

I did think this as the colour of the usbs are different colours.. The HP one is a black usb 3.0. i thorght it looked suspect being a usb 3.0 and not being blue.
If i am correct this is not a standard usb 3.0 cable & port, Its a revision.
Universally usb 3.0's are blue. please correct me if i am wrong.
The destop spec on the HP website also states it is a usb 3.0. witch is why i have this new cable.
The
OLD CABLE - Luxshare-ict AWM E321011 STYLE 2725 vw-1 80,OC 30V SUPER HIGH SPEED USB REVISION 3.0.
NEW CABLE - E252840 AWM STYLE 2725 80,OC 30V VW-1 DESAN USB3.0.
I thorght this would be a simple plug & play. How i was wrong, but please correct me if i am wrong.
Thanks for your time.

@FOXD1E, Thanks for the response.
Thanks for providing the details.
The components inside HP PC's are designed to work only with HP certified genuine parts.
Since the part you purchased is not an HP genuine part, Please replace it with the part I mentioned in my previous post.
Sometimes the USB ports are blue and sometimes it might come in black color too.
Hope this answers your query!
Cheers! 🙂
