Hi,
Simple question, but I can't find a sure answer: I need the pinouts for the two "front-panel" USB 2.0 connectors on the MSI MS-7778 Jasmine motherboard in my Pavilion P7-1539 desktop, labeled F_USB1 and F_USB2. I imagine it's the "typical" configuration, but I'd like to be sure before I try connecting them. Thanks!

The USB2 has 2 rows of 5 pins, with 1 missing. The USB3 has 2 rows of 10, with 1 missing. Here are the cables.

Your example is in fact how I expect things to be laid out. Though the connectors I'm asking about have 12 pins (for 2 USB2 ports) there is a single-USB connector (6 pins) that is already wired to the multi-card reader, and pins 1-4 are wired in this way. The reason I asked is that in some mobos' dual USB connectors (I understand) the second port is wired in reverse; i.e. the pattern is flipped, and every resource I've found warns to check the manual to be sure. I guess what you're saying here is that ALL modern mobos are wired this way?

I wrote HP since the system is still (barely) under warranty. They say they can't help me:
I regret to inform you that we do not currently have detailed motherboard diagram to connect F_USB1 and F_USB2 connectors. We usually send the PC with simplified connectors and they are tied in bunch. You do not need to connect or remove them manually. Please let us know if you have any issue with the pin connectors. We would assist you resolve it.
If you want modify the connectors and want to obtain the diagram, please provide us the following details as we may have to forward your concern to our Advanced Support Group.
Amazing. Apparently there is no mobo manual.
So I'm going to assume it's wired as wb2001 suggests, since this is my best shot at getting the board working. Thanks all for your help!

I plugged an off-the-shelf 2-socket USB header cable into one of the spare USB headers (P25 aka F_USB2) on a Jasmine board in my Pavilion P6-2310ea and it seems to work fine. Both USB sockets the header cable is connected to can read a USB memory stick under Windows 8.
The red +5V wires in the header plug go on pins 1 and 2, the black ground wires on 7 and 8. The header plug is a 10-pin block (2x5) and the unused connections "overhang" into the gap in the header where pins 9 and 10 should be.
I can't guarantee this will work for everyone or on other mystery motherboards and I can take no responsibility if trying this damages your particular machine. It worked for me though.
