Hi BHazzard,
3GB with Windows 7 32 bit is probably normal depending on your hardware configuration.
If Windows 7 64 bit is only reporting 3GB then it's possible that a software setting in MSCONFIG --> advanced is not set correctly. It should be unchecked.
If you right click on my computer and select properties it should indicate that amount installed and the amount available. If the an available number is being reported that doesn't equal the amount installed then you proably have software configuration issue. In extreme cases, it could be a hardware issue.
If you are running under a VM 'hypervisor" then you are going to get what is set for that VM image.

Hello CosmicGM,
I see that you are looking for information on a memory upgrade for your system. Here is a link to the product specifications for your computer.
It appears that the maximum amount of memory for your computer is 16 GB and it uses DDR3 memory sticks. It has 4 240-pin sockets.

I bought Compaq Presario Desktop PC 3353AP (P241KVT60005) in India in Oct'2002. Now I am only left with 480MB of RAM and PC has become very slow and has to use memory availabe on the hard drive, so I am trying to upgrade the RAM. I was trying to find the specifications for my PC so that I can look for compatible RAM and also the maximum limits that can be installed. But I am unable to find any details for the said model. Some details of my PC which I got at the time of buying are:
1. AMD AthlonXP 1800+ 1.5 GHz Processor
2. 128MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM (2 DIMM Slots)
3. Operating System (currently) is Windows XP
Please tell me what kind of RAM I need to install and how much can I install. Your help is highly appreciated. Thanks

for older models HP/Compaq have the irritating policy of removing any information pertinent to individual models from their publicly accessible website. They do have an "archive" which some members of the community are able access, maybe Big Dave or Hanspuppa.
I found this page on the internet http://www.memorystock.com/memory/CompaqPresario3353AP.html it belongs to a company that sells memory but it does give some sort of spec. for your model. It says on this page that you system can support up to 2 GB RAM, I think this probably means up to 1 GB in each memory slot.
I did not find your model listed on www.crucial.com, www.corsair.com or www.kingston.com, but there is a good chance that any "value" PC2100 ("266MHz") DDR SDRAM DIMMs would would function in your PC. (even PC2700)
Note: I am not recommending any particular manufacturer or supplier of memory.
