Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have an old HP Compaq Elite 8000 SFF with 4gb RAM and Intel Core 2 processor. It has integrated gfx but I want to add a dedicated gfx card. The PSU is 240. What would be the best gfx card that would offer the best  gfx perfornmance on this pc please?

Hi:

There isn't much you can do with a 240W P/S.

My recommendation would be to install either an AMD Radeon HD 6450 which was the optional card for the 8200 Elite SFF with the same power supply, or if you prefer a Nvidia card, go with the GT 610.

Both cards will draw less than 30W and will be better than the onboard Intel graphics.

Hello ,

Check this link :

Page 13 should be able to tell you which graphics card would work on your machine.

Hope this helps.

I highly doubt it for two reasons

1. The power supply would probably be over taxed, unless you get the 64 bit card.  The 128 Bit card draws 49 watts.

2. The BIOS in your PC is too old to run the Nvidia 730.

Additionally, the PCIe x16 slot is only rated for 25 Watts.

I know that folks have exceeded that rating but I don't think it is a good idea to go way beyond 30 Watts.

Just to be clear we are all talking about the SFF with this processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E8500
(6M Cache, 3.16 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB) Wolfdale?

Yes, I know what model you are referring to.

I have the 8000 Elite CMT with the 320 W P/S.

The SFF has the 240 W P/S.

Could you point me to some documentation where I can see the 35watt limit mentioned please? Just want to be able to refer to it again. For the life of me I cannot find it mentioned anywhere.  thanks.
