I'm having the same issue with my Envy 20. It came up once and then it did a reboot and black screen since. I've tried clearing the CMOS and changing the battery and no luck.

Hopefully your ENVY is still under warranty.  Mine did the same thing after I loaded Windows 10 and updated my Microsoft Office suite.  I tried everything I oculd to correct the problem but NO success whatsoever.  I sent the compuyter back to HP as it had about a wwwk left on the warranty.

I lost ALL data and programs and they said they had to repair/reinstall the BIOS as it was corrupted.

If it is under warranty, bite the bullet, and send it back to them then do NOT reload Windows 10 after you get it back.

It will come back to you in the same configuration it was in when you purchased it.

Sadly it is out of warranty. Hp said it will cost $200. Why won't they just post a how to and get it over with?

3 weeks before my AIO Desktop while trying to reset gave a WDF_violation error after that my display went completely blank. I visited service Centre he told me to replace my Mobo, so I did and got my PC today working but the service rep told me to roll back to Windows 8 since 10 had lot of issues. So while resetting my PC again it terminated and gave a WDF_VIOLATION again and after that my display went blank again. Note both the times after resetting this thing happened. I'm going to file this under consumer court, I had to pay approx 250-260$ for that motherboard since my PC was out of warranty.

Also in future I will not buy any HP product nor will suggest to any of my friends /relatives. Hp has the poorest customer service:( Not happy.

Actually, as bad as HP customer support (CS) it, I found Dell FAR WORSE.  They actually tried to bet me to pay a second time for a product I sent back to them,  I refuse to buy Dell products again (although my first PC was a Dell, but that was ore than 20 years ago when they did have good customer support), and I will not open any emails from Dell.  HP CS is getting clost to being as pathetic as Dell.
