Hi there @Trayable,
May the Forums be with you! I understand that you are getting a hard drive error on start up. I am happy to give you a hand with this.
Unfortunately, that likely means that the hard drive will need to be replaced. You can always check the hard drive connection first, because it is always possible that the cable is not seated properly on either end. But first you should check out these documents: HP Desktop PCs - Hard Drive Failure Errors: Imminent Failure, Smart, BIOHD, HD535, etc, Adding or Replacing a Hard Drive in Compaq Presario CQ5000 Series PCs. Between them they show some things you can try to protect your data first, and how to make a recovery disc if you haven't yet, and if your drive is functional enough to allow it.
If not, then you will probably also need to use this: HP PCs - Obtaining HP Recovery Discs or an HP USB Recovery Drive
Another option you could consider, is to contact HP phone support and look at your repair options. In that case please use the following http://www.hp.com/contacthp and create a case for your issue and contact HP. If you live outside the US/Canada, please click the link below to get the contact information for your region. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html
Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Thank you for the update.
If you cannot access your current hard drive, or login, and if you ready, then you will need to look at getting a set. HP PCs - Obtaining HP Recovery Discs or an HP USB Recovery Drive. That would be used to load the factory image including the operating system.
As you cannot access the data on your old hard drive from the system, you may still be able to get to it later, using an external hard drive bay, or see if a local computer shop offers a data recovery service.
I hope this helps.
