HP Pavillion IPS LED backlit
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Hi there,

I purchased an HP Paviillion 23xw 23-inch IPS LED Backlit Monitor and have connected it to my Macbook Pro via an HDMI. The screen is far too bright and I am at a loss as to how to change the brightness. I tried to download HP software for the monitor but I cannot seem to find a download for my Mac, only Windows.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there @abhandari,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I understand you are having an issue with the brightness of the display. I will be glad to help you.

I have follow two ways the adjust the brightness.

Per the IPS LED User Guide page 9, There are buttons in lower right corner to make adjustments.

the second way is from the computer see Mac link OS X Yosemite: Adjust your display’s brightness.

Hope this helps. Please keep me informed of how things went.

I have the same issue with this monitor.

Its a very nice monitor and looks great with Mac products.....   But my Mac Mini WILL NOT adjust brightness.  sad.  And there is no brightness slider in the Display Preferences.

HP and Apple should play nicer together.
