computer windows 10 not recognize keyboard 5187-7583

My computer does not recognize HP keyboard  5187-7583. Do I need to download drivders for this keyboard?

This computer uses the N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX (Alvorix) motherboard, which does not have PS/2 keyboard port.  HP Multi-Media keyboard 5187-7583 uses a PS/2 connector, and is over a decade old.

This means you may be using a USB to PS/2 adapter and not a converter. (there is a difference, for keyboards).

There are two separate ways to connect a PS/2 device to a USB port:

through using either an Adapter or a Converter.

These two slightly different methods are often confused,

which can lead to frustration because often only a PS/2 to USB converter will work for a keyboard.

The customer / end-user confusion was so bad on eBay, they wrote an instructional article on the subject.

I use the Compaq USB to PS/2 Converter, CPQUSBPS, which was sold retail 15 years ago.

These appear as NOS and used products via Amazon, old computer shops, and eBay.
