Hi, I also have a HP dc7800 small form factor with a 240w PSU and I saw that you recommend a Radeon HD 6450 for graphic replacement. On AMD web site they wrote that a 400w PSU is recommended so I was wondering if I could use a EVGA GeForce GT 640 on this machine. They recommend this "350 watt or greater power supply with a minimum of 20 amps on the +12 volt rail"... I think this HP SFF have only 7.5 amps on the 12v so I need you to clear that out for me...
Is the power enough to support the card? Also, I have 8gb ddr2 memory that draw power too...
Thanks
Sorry for my bad English

Hi:
Sorry, but I can't help you.
I am only going to suggest cards (with no guarantee they willl work) that are recommended by HP for the 8200 Elite SFF which has the same wattage power supply as the dc7800, and the cards are still available.
For nVidia, they would be the following:
Nvidia NVS 295 Graphics (PCIe x16)
Nvidia NVS 300 Graphics (PCIe x16)
Nvidia NVS 310 Graphics (PCIe x16)

Hi:
That is why I cannot help you.
I am not a PC technician.
I can only compare what cards go in similar models and I make my assumptions from those.
If you see what I originally posted, I recommended used video cards that were offered by HP for the dc7800 at the time.
Since the person wanted a new card, I could only recommend one that was offered in a newer model with the same P/S.
That definitely isn't the technical way to deal with the issue, but it works for me.

Hi
That was me who wanted to install the new card, actually i've been using AMD HD6450 since then and it dosent cause me any problem concerning the usage of power supply, I also had concernes about my 250watt power supply and 400 watts of graphic card's requirement but its working great here at my DC7800 SFF, along with the card I have 4 GB of memory.
I will suggest you shoulf Install 6450 if you wanna use it for home cenima of casual gaming, but if you need to use the card for hardcore gaming or something like that then it is strongly recommended that you upgrade your power supply to something above 400 watts for better performence of your PC and card, and also if you had installed the new 400watts or above power supply then why dont you go for some advance piece of equipment for the graphics's use,
thanks

Hey thanks m8, actually I got this Pc from a friend, it was used in an office downtown Montreal. I intend to use it mainly for Photoshop CS6 and I am not a gamer at all. Its replacing a better Laptop that got stolen from me a while back and sadly I can't afford a new system right now. My final choice, after surfing the web and asking the same questions all around, is the Radeon HD 7750. It seems that this card run without problems on 240w PSU since it draw very little power...
Thanks anyway

Hi.
Its an excellent choice for DC7800, but i think it will not fit in the slim desktop casing, unless you have a low profile edition of the said card,
anyway goodluck with that and drop your feedback after using it.
