I purchased a HP P-7 1534 and should I need to get into the bios how do I do this? I have tried F1, F2, F8, F10 and delete key with no success and performed light tapping while the machine was starting up. I assume their may be a pin within the motherboard preventing this. I would appreciate the knowledge shoud I ever need to boot into safe mode. Thanks!

Hi:

I think you need to tap the ESC key to get into the BIOS nowadays.

Also, you referenced safe mode...that is a whole other ballgame.

Please read the info at the link below on how to get into W8 safe mode.

Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion p7-1534 Desktop Computer. Please see "BIOS Settings for the Jasmine Motherboard" for information about enter and using the BIOS setup. Please see "Windows 8 Safe Mode" for information about safe mode in Windows 8.

I went home and rebooted pc. When it restarted I tapped the escape key with the pc going to start app. This is a frustration due to I cant see whats enabled and what isnt and what boot order is being commanded. I installed new g-skill ripjaws today because I like dual channel. When I viewed through CPUZ it tells me I still have a cas latency of 11 which this ram should clock at 9 latency as an example. Thanks for your help.

@bu_nut76,

I understand you need to access the system BIOS.

The F10 key should take the system directly to BIOS when pressing F10 about once a second after turning it on.  I understand this is not the case here.  The ESC key should take you to a startup menu where you can select various options.  What happens when you try to get into BIOS?  Does the same thing happen when using the ESC key instead?

Is the original keyboard being used?  If it is a USB keyboard, is it going directly to the PC or is it going through a USB hub then to the PC?  It sounds like the keyboard isn't quite activate yet during POST and it is booting into Windows 8 as a result.  This is most common with wireless keyboards and USB keyboards routing through a USB hub.

Thank you very much.  Had same issue with HP p-7 I just purchased.  Would have never figured it out without this post.

 I think it has to do with haveing a pci e video card installed. if you remove it, then start your pc hitting f10 bios will open. TRY IT SEE IF I AINT RIGHT!
