Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Please help me with this problem: Windwso 10 installed, but the newly installed MS driver does not funktion.

The soundmax driver which I installed worked fine on Wondows 8.1.

Some people recommend the manual installation of an older Soundmax driver. How does a manual install works?

Hi:

Give this a try...Download and run the W7 driver from your PC's support and driver page.

Analog Devices SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio driver update resolves an issue with Line-In erroneously set as the default recording device in Control Panel.

File name: sp44473.exe

If the file installs the driver automatically, great.  If not...

Go to the device manager, and click on the multimedia audio controller needing drivers.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let Me Pick from a List of device drivers on my computer.

Click on Have Disk, and browse to:  C:\SWSetup\sp44473\src\amd64\Vista\ADIHdAud, and select the SoundMAX HD Audio device and see if the driver installs that way.

Then reboot.

Hi Paul,

thank you for your effort in getting a workaround with this crazy audio driver.

I did exactly as you were instructing me to do but no sound and no integrated mic was working.

I remember the 8.1 version  of windows, a driver was provided by soundmax and everything was working fine.

How can we go from here?

This mic is important to me because I am working with dragon naturally speaking.

Any thoughts, Paul?

George

Hi, George.

Sorry that trick didn't work. I was hoping it would.

It is interesting (in a bad way) that the audio doesn't work on your PC.

I have two old notebooks that came with Windows Vista and the Soundmax audio works just fine on mine.

I didn't have to do a thing.

The only other suggestion I can offer if you have not done so already is to be connected to the internet, click on the multimedia audio controller, click on the driver tab, click on update driver and select the automatic search option.

See if a driver is found by windows update.  It can take several minutes for the search to complete one way or the other.

Hi Paul,

thank you for your effort in helping me with this soundmax driver.

Please note that the speakers work fine with the MS driver which was automatically installed. But the MIC does NOT.

I need to use another  USB device in order to dictate with Dragon Naturally Speaking.

I will try the outomatic search option.

Again, thank you so far.

You're very welcome, George.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to help you get the microphone to work.

If that driver didn't install the whole shebang, then I doubt there will be anything you can do to remedy the problem (other than what you are doing now).
