I have a Hp Pavillion 500-141ea im trying to up date the IDT sound driver for windows 8, I down load the SP sp62736, it goes through the installing procedure, it then stops and comes up with this error code 259 not updated successfully, I have even disabled antivirus software etc still the same.
Any Idea's?

Hi Apache1968,
If everything is working at the moment with the exception of the download then I would leave it as it is. The whole 'don't mess with what's working” thing.

Hi Apache1968.
I saw your post and I will be happy to help. I did some research on that error code that you received and found another HP Forum thread where the poster had the same issue. Try Big_Dave suggestions and let me know how it goes.

Hi Apache1968,
I have another suggestion for you. It could be that something isn't getting removed from your system properly.
I will get you to use the HP Recovery Manager to restore the IDT audio drivers back to default. The link below will show you how to reinstall the drivers. Click on Reinstall software and drivers on your HP desktop computer. Use that to restore the IDT Audio drivers back to default.
Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03430118
After you do that you will need to clear your Temp files. I have included a link below that will show you how to do that.
Then try the installation again. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Apache1968,
The error you are getting isn't a common error message. When you used the HP Recovery Manager and restored it back to its original IDT driver did everything with the sound work fine?
There are two other methods of updating the driver. You can use the HP Support Assistant to check for any updates. I have included a link that will walk you through that. Scroll down until you see Updates and Tune Ups.
Using HP Support Assistant Windows 8:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03446545
Another option that you can try is updating the driver through the Device Manager. Open your Device Manager and then right click on the Audio driver and select update.
Opening Device Manager:

ok..
I used the support assistant to update my drivers, which currently asks me to update to the windows 8.1 drivers, and wont load them on, gives the error wrong O.S.), I havent put the upgrade on because of issues, one being that the test says this computer hasnt been tested for 8.1, from HP united states web site, altho if you put the model number etc in its not heard of it, the second being the amd radion driver not stable, otherwise I would be using it.(I would like to use it, as I am fed up with it nagging me to do it!!)
The error 259 is a download from the HP support sit esp62736 is which i downloaded for a upgraded driver, as by the time you purchase a new pc insome cases you have sent out newer ones, the driver was working all along, the download refused to load on, all the others have.
