HP Reverb G2 Virtual Reality Headset
Microsoft Windows 11

Ok, I will admit made a mistake, bought a second hand HP Reverb G2 with no return possible.  Basically I have a powerful gaming computer that could handle a G2 fairly well.  It has a rtx 3090 and a top CPU and tons of DDR5 memory and an Asus Motherboard that is a z690.  It has USB C and thunderbolt 4 and USB A 3.2 ports.  I figured that the reverb wouldn't have any issues connecting.   First time I set it up and plugged it in even the little power brick didn't light up, i thought i had blown a fuse.  then realised I had to push the connection into the headset fully and it "clicked" into place, still nothing but now the brick has a light and I can hear sound playing through the reverbs speakers.  still blank inside and not even the HP logo lights up so I know this is serious.   The little power brick apparantly is the newer version which has the button on it.   So this is what I've tried... plugging into my USB C and Thunderbolt ports and I even tried turning and plugged the cable the other way up as apparantely that makes a difference, I've tried every USB-A port with a high speed USB C to USB A adapter, ...nothing except for either "slow speed port" or "display port 1-4" error.  I've tried all 3 of the display ports on the GPU including the one the monitor is plugged into (it's a g-sync monitor which I've also turned off the G-sync to see) and I've cleaned the connections on the cables and the sockets with a clean fresh new paint brush, tried a powered USB Hub, disconnected the cables and  reseated them.  I've tried different drivers in the update drivers section for the reverb, which when you check "show all compatible hardware" it brings up "standard system device" it shows "perception simulation Headset" it seemed to get WMR up and running but the Reverb was still blank, so I went back to the microsoft hololens drivers that was installed by default.  I've even gone as far as going into the bios and lowering the Gen 4/5 of the GPU and Nmve Gen 4 down to Gen 3 to see if that helps.  It all leads to the same 1.4 display cable error code and a blank dead headset.     At this stage the only thing I can think of is the little power brick (SPS: M52188-001) is somehow faulty, or the cables have a micro break in them somewhere.   HP can't help much as it's out of Warrenty and before I go and blow money on a replacement set of cables I'm just wondering if anyone has any insight into this issue.   Any help would be massively appreicated as I've been working on this for 2 days now and my joy of owning a cool gadget is dying a painful death!
