I connected an OMEN 34c monitor to a 2023 macbook air M@ running Sequoia 15.3.1. When the MacBook sleeps then wakes up, the monitor won't wake up. I have to reboot the macbook for the monitor to re-open. How do I fix this?

The 23 Mac Air has thunderbolt 4.  Are you running that directly into the thunderbolt 3 port on the monitor?

If not, what adapter are you using?

Does turning the monitor off and back on fix the problem?

Rebooting the Mac essentially sends a bus reset out the thunderbolt 4 port. There is probably a way to to do that in MacOS using a command of some type.

.

From using google, this seems to be a known problem on Macs:  Not waking up the display.

In answer to your questions:

I connected the OMEN 34c external monitor with an HDMI cable through a baseus hub to the macbook air.

Turning off the monitor and back on does not fix the problem.

Apple support says it's an HP problem.

HP support was non-existent for this product  issue which is why I posted here.

I purchased a new HDMI to USB-C cable to try a direct connection to the macbook. Will update if it works.

Unless I am mistaken, your Mac has thunderbolt4.  Call it USB-C

You need a USB-C to HDMI cable.  Some HDMI cables are bi-directional, most only work one way.

Make sure the adapter and / or cable has the direction from the Mac to the Monitor else it may not work properly if at all.

Obviously the HP is not waking up and there may  be nothing wrong with the cable. It is suspicious that the monitor does not turn on when turned off and back on . Did you try unplugging the power source?   Is there an on-screen-display in the monitor where there are setting for sleep and other functions?
