HP OMEN Mindframe Headset
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Greetings. I've seen this issue in another board, but following the instructions resulted in nil, as the help website was unable to even discover my headset when I input the serial number. Here is the link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Accessories/OMEN-Mindframe-Headset-Mic-Audio-Static/td-p/729095...

I have an OMEN Mindframe headset. While it's a wonderful piece of engineering, lately it's been generating extremely loud static whenever I raise or lower my microphone. As stated in the other board, this is likely a hardware issue. The website was unable to assist, for the reason stated above.

Please advise, this headset is otherwise marvelous and I would like to keep using it.

Hi@LeviThePants,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing Mic issues with the HP OMEN Mindframe Headset is not working correctly.

I have a few recommendations

I suggest you follow the below steps to remove the static sound from your device,

Adjust Playback Settings

Step 1. Right click the speaker icon on the Taskbar and select Playback devices to open Sound settings. Double click your headphones device to open the Properties.

Step 2. Choose the Levels tab and then adjust the Microphone slider to 0. Click Apply.

Step 3. Go to Enhancements tab and then check the Disable all sound effects. Click OK twice to exit.

Once done, Adjust Recording Settings as well:

Step 1. Right click the speaker icon on the Taskbar and select Recording devices.

Step 2. Double click the Microphone and open the Properties box.

Step 3. Go to Levels tab. Adjust the Microphone Boost slider to 0. Click OK twice to finish all the settings.

Now plug in your headphones and try playing some audio files.

If the issue still persists it could be a hardware issue on HP OMEN Mindframe Headset.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Unfortunately, this solution is not adequate. I am already almost certain this is a hardware issue. In addition, this has proven itself to be an issue on both my Win 10 and Ubuntu machines.

To begin, I have stepped through your recommendations. This disabled the static when I moved the microphone's arm to be sure, but it also disabled the microphone entirely. This is not my goal. I can leave it disabled by simply leaving the mic's arm up. My problem comes from the fact that I need to disable/enable my microphone using the rotating arm on it. But, due to a physical connection issue inside the rotating arm, extremely loud static goes through the microphone's input any time it nears the bottom.

My request is that either you direct me to where I can go or send it to get my device's inherit design flaw repaired, or explain how I can do so myself.

Thank you for your time.

-Levi
