Just checking, have you updated to the latest AMD drivers. I dont know what Graphics card you are running but if it is an AMD one the latest Adrenaline drivers fix this problem. Not sure about Nvidia. You could try an PCIe USB card that has worked for some, i tried but didnt work for me till i updated all my drivers.
My setup
Asus Crosshair VIII hero (wifi) it is a 570 board
CPU 5800X
GPU Gigabyte RX6800 OC
very frustrating waiting for a fix so i know how you must be feeling. Also make sure you have the very latest windows.
hope this helps.

Hi All,
For those who have has issue with USB 3.0 I've made some progress.
I had install the PCIe host controller but that did not work on my machine either.
"Window Mixed Reality PC Check" App was telling me
"The PC's usb controller (asusXXXX/XXXXX/XX/XX/XXXX 00:00:00) won't work with Windows Mixed Reality..."
To get round this you have uninstall and delete your motherboard's USB "eXtensible Host Controller" from you system
which does not have "Microsoft" in it's name, and install Microsoft "eXtensible Host Controller"
Once you remove your motherboard's usb driver, Windows should install Microsoft USB driver.
Follow the instruction at:
I managed to get pass the "Window Mixed Reality PC Check" app and now it is telling me all my components are compatible on my machine.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Windows Mixed Reality PC Check Results [20201218-211107]
Tool Version: 0.2.0.0
Spec Version: 75
Ok Operating system Windows 10 Fall Creators Update or later
Ok Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
Ok Graphics driver 27.21.14.6089 (WDDM 2.7)
Ok CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3930K CPU @ 3.20GHz
Ok RAM 32 GB
Ok Disk space 206 GB
Ok USB 3.0+
Ok Bluetooth 4.0+
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I get sound out of the headset during "Window Mixed Reality PC Check", but none of the screens work.
When I acutally try and run "Mixed Reality Portal" app (note different to "Window Mixed Reality PC Check" app) this fails to detect the G2,
telling please connect the headset even though it is connected.
"HP Reverb G2 VR Headset setup" utility work/run however it cannot setup up the index controller.
I can connect he controller via "Settings->Devices->Bluetooth->Add Bluetooth or other device" but not in the "HP Reverb G2 VR Headset setup".
So "Mixed Reality Portal" cannot detect the headset and "HP Reverb G2 VR Headset setup" cannot connect to the controllers.
Having got so far I find Windows to hang more times that it boots up when the G2 is connected, and still does not work when it does boot up.
It also does not shutdown or restart and I am constanty hitting reset. WHen not connected I do not get these issues.
Just as MS Flight Sim crashed every time your unplugged a sub device this is the same isse for me on my PC.
I think if I've not resolved this by this weekend it is time for a refund.
The device does not work excepts for very limited hardware configurations.

I got it working last night on one of the frontpanel USB-Ports for a couple of hours. It lost the USB audio device from time to time, but it at least worked. Today i tried again, but it mieserably failed. It either didn't recognize the device at all or could not establish a USB 3.x connection.
So i tried with my sons rig, a older Intel based system (MSI Z97M-G43), but it should be sufficient for a test. Same Problem. Can't establish a USB 3.x connection to the Reverb G2.

I now have opened tickets on this issue with HP, AMD (Chipset), and MSI (Board & GFX) and did some systematic testing.
I also tested with a Monitor integrated USB 3.1 Hub, but without success.
I will do further testing when either the PCIe USB 3.2-Card i've ordered on Amazon, or the USB 3.0 Hub from HP arrives and keep you up to date.

i had the same issue on X 570 gigabyte aorus pro with amd 3900x and gpu GTX 1080 TI ,
so i initially bought a usb 3.1 pcie expansionboard
this solved my issue
a few weeks later i noticed gigabyte released newer biosupdate which i installed, and after the update... the hp reverb g2 works on 1 of the front usb 3 port as well (but not on any of the usb 3 ports),
so i no longer need the usb 3.1 pcie expansion-board

Hello , I was getting the same 7-14 error that brought me to this form but i found that the cable that plugs into the headset end has come lose a little . i just pushed the plug in a little bit and it got rid of the error.

Hi,
i have the Gigabyte Aorus Elite, with Ryzen 3900X CPU and RTX 3080 GPU. I still keep getting this error, even after firmware 33a. Which is the firmware that you are running?
I wonder if someone has a "final" solution because most of the time it does not work
1. externally powered USB hub does not fix the issue.
2. USB eXtensible Host Controller has (Microsoft) at the end so that's not the problem either.
I also wonder if ALL motherboards with X570 chipset experience this same problem. In that case, it's a shame HP did not publish a fix for it.
