This is ridiculous. I:
- updated the firmware
- bought an external USB-C PCIe 4x extension card
- bought a USB 3.0 hub with external PSU
and it even won't work with the external USB hub connected to the external PCIe extension card! NOTHING works. I don't get why HP does not respond at all here at the forum, and, more importantly, publishes some kind of firmware updates. It is clear that a lot of people are experiencing this problem. I don't like that HP is not even communicating that they are aware of the problem.

Had the same problem with my unit since i got it in mid december. Yesterday my replacement unit arrived and it at least works somehow better. It still only works with the USB Hub HP sent me and it also still crashes from time to time with "UMDFHostProblem" and "UmdfDeviceOffline" in the windows system errorlog.

Hi -
Received original headset in 18th December 2020.
I have tried all of the posted solutions. I spent a fortune upgrading my games machine,
just in case this was the issue. Now have Ryzen 5950X, 32 GB, MSI x570 ACE motherboard - VR Ready.
Windows Mixed Reality checks report "PC is VR Ready".
Two week ago I received a replacement headset (the headset only) to try - 11th Feb 2021.
So had to wait 2 months for headset. Exact same issues. Error codes relating to USB cable - "Try another port"
Rang back, they then offered to send me a replacement cable. My thoughts were how long I would have to wait for a replacement and why did you not just send that too. At which I decided to cut my loses and get a refund.

Imagine how I feel with a Reverb G1 that worked fine at 90Hz for a year then suddenly stopped. It runs okay at 60Hz but nothing gets it to work again at 90Hz. Updated drivers. Rolled back drivers. Tried every USB port. Tried a powered hub Tried it off the hub. Bought a powered USB 3.1 card. Tried different display ports. Tried reducing connections. Tried changing monitor settings.
Of course this is all on top of the problems I had with video blacking out. That was firmly solved by disabling audio to the headset.
It's such a great headset when it works but this is just silly.

Solved it...It was mostly gone with the Anker USB hub and setting PCI to Gen3 in the BIOS.
I updated my x570 mobo because I wanted to activate Nvidia Reziable Bar and the problems were back. I got the 1-8 error.
I fixed it with dailing down my tripple screen setting from 144Hz to 120Hz, unplugged the USB ....back in and voila it works again.
