I have an old HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-2170m CTO (at least that's what the HP detection application says) with an AMD Ryzen 3 5300G. I recently tried upgrading to an AMD Ryzen 5 4500, and despite fitting into the CPU socket, and the PC turning on just fine, there was never any display. I tried updating BIOS through HP but it didn't work. I returned the CPU and I am thinking of getting an AMD Ryzen 5 5500. Does the HP pavilion motherboard have a compatibility issue with different CPUs? Is it because the motherboard is fairly old? Was the CPU/Motherboard ever the problem? and will this new CPU work properly?
Thank you.

Your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-2170m CTO (3V2Z3AV) as fitted with the Erica6 motherboard (SSID: 8906) is only compatible with the following three processors:
No other Ryzen processors are going to work with your PC.
This is a function of restrictive HP motherboard programming.
You can see for yourself amongst Erica6 (Ryzen processor) Users: https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-Pavilion-Gaming-Desktop-TG01-2xxx/236052.
