Hi,

The answer to your last question is go here (Link). Input your region and PC product number.

HP usually does not provide a purchase option for this part.

The first picture is supposed to be the “new” case I want to change into.

Greetings,

Welcome back to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

It may be possible. HP's front or top I/O may not match the new case.

This means you may lose some functionality.

I don't recommend doing this.

HP may be using proprietary motherboard connections for front panel stuff.

This will, most likely void any time left on your HP warranty.

Just build a new PC if you don't like the HP chassis.

Hi! Thank you for your answer. Regarding what you told me, I don’t care about losing some functionalities like, for example, the two trays, because I don’t know how they can be used and what are they for.

Hi Ulex,

You're very welcome.

HP motherboards sometimes use different front panel connections that don't work with retail cases. HP also sometimes uses proprietary power supplies.

I have never worked with this HP case so I don't know what you have.

The top trays are for installing HDDs.

The success of moving a HP motherboard to a different case varies based on HP's motherboard design.

Thank you for your answer.

i checked the compatibility of my motherboard dimensions with the new case, and it resulted ok.

Do you think that if I bring my omen to a shop and they disassemble it and, if if the components aren’t  compatible, reassemble it, any component will break or not?

HP Recommended

Hi Ulex,

The PC shop/tech would be responsible for any component damage in this scenario.

I would verify this with the tech before having the system checked for compatibility in the new chassis.

Hi, thank you again for your answer😅

Do you think I ought give up with my attempt or just try to verify the compatibility with a technician?

Afterall, I didn’t tell you that I chose another case. I don’t think that this new one could change your opinion, but, in any case, I paste here the link:

https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/cases/mid-tower/masterbox-mb520-rgb/

Thank you again for your support.

At the end of all, my achievement is to reply my case “more colered”. I thought also another option... couldn’t I replace the panel of my omen with a transparent one and but inside new coloured fans and leds?

Hi Ulex,

You're very welcome.

I can't make that decision for you.

The CoolerMaster is a better choice. It has no front USB 3.1 Type C I/O. So you lose this high speed USB device. I did not check your first choice but most inexpensive cases don't provide USB type C on the front I/0. You have to verify the HP front panel connections on the MB will work with retail case front panel connectors. HP sometimes uses modified USB, HDD LED, or power switch connectors.

Some upgrades using proprietary OEM motherboards in retail cases work and upgrades some fail.

Using a new retail case with a new retail motherboard is much easier. The problem is; you have to spend more money for a new MB and a new Windows product key.

Let a tech see if the motherboard in your HP system will work with a retail case.

I don't recommend using proprietary motherboards in retail cases.

Regards
