HP Omen 870-224
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased the HP Omen 870-224, with the assumption that I could have dual display via the HDMI ports,,as I'm reading posts, several users have indicated that the ports are NOT used for the monitor...Is that true and if so..How can I have dual monitor connection?

You're welcome. 🙂

Your HP PC's NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 card has the following ports:

  • 1 Dual Link DVI-D port.

  • 1 HDMI port.

  •  3 DisplayPorts.

One monitor can be connected to the HDMI port and the other monitor to the DVI or the display ports depending on the connection interface the monitor has.

please refer to this HP document.

Cheers!

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an HP OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 870-224. I understand that you would like to connect two HDMI compatible screens and have a dual display from this PC. I'll surely answer this for you.

I did some research on your PC and found the product specifications. The specifications show that the PC has an integrated video card (chip- Intel HD Graphics) on the motherboard. From the integrated video there are two HDMI out ports. Over and above that there is another NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (3 GB) installed on the motherboard. The NVIDIA card only has one HDMI port on it.

As per the products specifications (refer to Video Graphics>> Integrated graphics), the Integrated video (chip- Intel HD Graphics) is not available if a graphics card is installed. There the two HDMI ports do not work. Because the NVIDIA card is active and only the ports from the NVIDIA card will work.

For additional information on connecting dual displays, please refer to this HP document.

I hoe this answers your question. Please feel free to let me know if you have anymore questions. Cheers! 🙂

Both the DVI and HDMI signal quality is more or less the same. However, the HDMI is more widely used.

Good luck and keep in touch for any questions. Cheers!

So, can I use an adapter to use a second monitor? Because my tv doesn't have DVI or DisplayPort. Oh, and there is a suggestion: Pre-include adapters in the pc pack. It saves us from 7 pounds or more.
