HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-2000a (2Z6E2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, I am wanting to upgrade my RTX 3060 to a AMD RX 9070 when it releases. I realize I have to upgrade the power supply but am wondering if I need to upgrade the motherboard as well. Looking at the motherboard I do not see a 24 pin connector and do not know if a aftermarket PSU would work with this motherboard. Thank you for your time.

@Sillybentley123,

The maximum proprietary power supply that would be compatible with your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-2000a is a 650-watt power supply with p/n:  L57253-003 / L36049-003 as I used it in my HP Pavilion TP01-3xxx upgrade project.  This 650-watt power supply is capable to power an AMD Radeon RX 9070 according to AMD's specs.

You can purchase one of these power supplies online, such as via this trusted eBay Seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/356617278803?_skw=%C2%A0L57253-003&itmmeta=01JNFDM884WN8813QY1N6X8166&hash=....

However, if you do want to upgrade your graphics card to the RX 9070 level, I would rather recommend an RTX 5070 when it releases: every day of the week, and twice on Sunday's.  The RTX 5070 also requires a 650-watt power supply according to Nvidia's specs.

Here is how the two cards compare: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0gL6Y7ZYAU&ab_channel=DracarysGaming.
