Hi all. I am trying to install an MSI GeForce GTX 1650 into my HP Envy 750-414 for a little extra graphics power. However, I cannot get my desktop to recognize the new card. I'm curious as to if I need the PCIe 6 on power cord for it, as it says a 300W power supply is needed and that is what I have. If so, where do I plug that in on my motherboard? There are no extra 6 pin cords on my power supply. Any help would be appreciated.  Also, do I need to remove the on board graphics before I install this card or can it be done post boot? Thank you in advance!

Your system came with a 300w micro ATX power supply built to HP specs and probably doesn't have the 6 pin power connector needed.

You would have to purchase another micro ATX PSU of a higher wattage to get that 6 pin connector. A 450w PSU would probably meet the requirements.

 

When you install the graphics card, you will need to connect the monitor to one of the out ports on that card, not the video out port on the motherboard. The onboard graphics will be disabled by default when the new card is installed.
