Hello!

I'm trying to install a internal soundcard in my HP omen 45L. The soundcard is a soundblaster AE5-plus.
I've tried the card in another computer to see if it's broken and it's not it works perfectly fine there.

When I install the soundcard in the OMEN it does not even appear in bios.... Any ideas?

Hi

Disable onboard audio in the BIOS after you install the audio card.

Look in the BIOS Security menu, Device Security.

It definitely has something to do with the BIOS do some research relating to that visit

Hi

One other possibility is the PCIe slot you are using is disabled because you are using additional M.2 devices.

Did you check BIOS Slot Security menu to see if the affected PCIe slot can be enabled or disabled?

I can disable or enable the PCIe slot the soundcard is currently installed to (I can slide the bar left and right). I tried it in both directions and it did nothing.
The computer uses a M.2 device (the m2 disk the OS is installed on).

Hi

You have a PCIe X4 expansion slot. This PCIe slot should be more than enough to power the audio card. The 45L is a great PC having industry standard connections and excellent upgradability options. HP sells the case as a stand alone product.

I can't see why you cannot use the add in audio card. The single NVME M.2 drive installed in your MB should be using data lanes provided by the CPU. So the PCIe slot should be available for use.

Some motherboards will disable SATA ports or PCIe slots when you add additional M.2 drives. This is because of the limited number of data lanes provided by the chipset when using additional M.2 drives.

The last possibility is Secure Boot is causing this issue. Disable Secure Boot in the BIOS.

Hi, i have the same issues with SB AE 7. On boot up, soundcard is sometimes not recognized too. But in my case, most of the time the soundcard works after reebooting. Creative Labs support couldnt help me. They want me to exchange to usb soundcard. This seems clearly to be a problem with Omen Mainboard/Bios. Did you try newest Bios Version F.30 Rev A? This is the one i have installed on my rig. Greets

Hi

It looks like some problem with SB audio cards.

This problem may not have a solution. Really can't justify why?? All add in cards should work when correct procedures are used to install the device.
