I'm starting to wonder if that new update will definitely fix the processor's operation and if after that I can trust that the processor won't ask for too much power and fry.

As ikjadoon states in the comments of the Verge news link below:

"However, as these releases keep showing, Intel is not near fixing this problem, so these OEMs are likely waiting for the final microcode before shipping the global BIOS update via Windows."

Given HP's delay last time, it'll prolly be another month or so before any new BIOS updates roll out. For some reason HP's driver assistant software still hasn't picked up the 0x129 update although the settings 'Windows Update'  app has. I updated mine as soon as I found out but any damage done to my chip will probably go unnoticed until I see BSODs one day.

Any more BIOS updates after this will most likely be in the form of another optional windows update so be sure to check every now and then. Heres where you need to go:
settings > windows update > advanced options > optional updates titled HP Inc. - Firmware - xx.xx.xx (could contain the 0x12B update)

Intel could've handled this better, I found out very recently its a huge hassle trying to get your damaged OEM chipsets replaced as some prebuilt PC's and laptop manufacturers/brands have come out claiming they are not liable.

Hi,

I bought my Omen 45l (RTX 4080, 13th gen. 13900K) in January, and since March, I've been dealing with the worst case of random BSODs and weirdest PC behavior ever. I have sent the entire PC for RMA/diagnosis 5x!, and not once were they able to discover what could be causing the issues, and returned the PC as delivered (except for new damages caused by the technicians, such as bent CPU cooler, wrong model of MOBO installed, etc. ...). The entire ordeal was a nightmare, and after a period of relative stability (july-september), after the latest BIOS update, the issue seems to be getting worse again (multiple BSODs in last few days).

The Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool seems to indicate, that my CPU should be passing all the tests with flying colors, however, it corresponds with the issues that the 13th and 14th gen CPUs currently have (BSODs under High load and while idling, everything in between seems ok).

My question is, is there a 100% way of testing whether my CPU was permanently damaged, and/or whether the new 0x12b update could potentially solve my issues?

I would like to avoid that RMA center in my region, as the technicians are rather useless at that specific center..., and buying this PC seems to be one of my worst financial decisions this year, due to the constant bugs and issues, and trips to the repair center 😅.

Thank you in advance for your reply/replies.

I got "HP Inc. - Firmware - 15.27.0.0" update today from windows update to my HP 25L Gaming Desktop computer.

It updated firmware version to 0x12B.

i think the update arrived pretty quickly after all.

I'm happy, thank you HP!

HP is at least faster when it comes to updating this than Acer.

My Acer predator orion po3-650 only received the microcode update 0x129 at the beginning of this month...

Greetings,

Check this Site for a way to check your Intel CPU.

Download and run the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool.

And you can do the Cinebench/HWiNFO test if desired.

Regards
