I got the HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 790-0045se as a gift but I have a gpu, cpu, motherboard, and power supply. I'm not sure if I can replace the parts in the pc with better ones.

@Xenopsi , welcome to the Community.
The motherboard in your computer is HP proprietary. It has a 4-pin power connector instead of a standard 24-pin ATX power connector. You will have to buy any PSU upgrade from HP. HP has a 500W power supply unit (PSU) (L05757-800) that should be compatible with your motherboard. This will limit the upgrades.

You should look at the sections titled "Processor upgrade information" and "Memory upgrade information" for the processors and memory that is compatible with your motherboard.

Also, here is a HP Knowledge Base article that will explain what to consider when moving your motherboard to another case. The same consideration apply when changing the motherboard in a HP case.

I would like to know the specifics of what components are installed in your gaming desktop, so that I can best assist you with upgrade recommendations.
