My computer randomly thinks shift is being held down. I don’t have concrete helpful evidence here but I believe it’s only when playing games. I recall it happening twice when not actively on a game but a game could’ve been opened in the back ground. Timeframe wise when it started….maybe November or December of 2025. Definitely started by Feb or March 2026. I know that’s a horrible timeline but that’s the best I can remember. Since Feb or March I’ve tried everything online that says it’ll fix it. And I seem to relate to most people. It only will fix for maybe two days max and it’ll start randomly doing it again. I’m completely lost on what’s causing it and don’t know what to do. If I had to make a bet on my life of when it actually started doing this I’d say April because that’s the very earliest time I can think back to it being a problem. But like I said I’m not for certain and that’s why I’ve given I little more range on when it started. I’m not even sure if the info on when I started experiencing this problem would help.

You may have a defective keyboard. The next time this happens, reboot and press F2 to select diagnostic tests.
If the keys fail there is a hardware problem. You could also borrow a keyboard and see if the problem exists on the second keyboard.
Does the keyboard have LED to show if the caps lock is selected? Maybe the caps lock was accidently pressed.
