Hi @5CD114F1W3 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your laptop display is blank, but the Caps Lock button is blinking and the CPU is running, it indicates a potential hardware or system error. The blinking Caps Lock light on HP laptops is often used as a diagnostic indicator to help identify the cause of the issue. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Count the Blinking Caps Lock Light:

  • The number of times the Caps Lock light blinks can provide information about the nature of the problem. For example, a specific number of blinks might indicate a hardware failure or a specific error code.

Check the HP Support Website:

  • Visit the HP support website and search for the blinking Caps Lock light code for your specific laptop model. HP often provides a list of blink codes that can help diagnose the issue.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Shut down the laptop, disconnect all external devices (including the power adapter), and remove the battery if possible. Hold the power button down for about 15-20 seconds to perform a hard reset. Then, reconnect the power source and try turning on the laptop again.

Connect an External Monitor:

  • If possible, connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if the external display works. This will help determine if the issue is with the laptop's display or with the internal components.

Check RAM and Reseat if Necessary:

  • Faulty RAM or improperly seated RAM modules can cause display issues. Try reseating the RAM modules or testing the laptop with one module at a time (if applicable).

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Boot the laptop in Safe Mode and update the graphics drivers. Outdated or corrupted drivers can sometimes cause display problems.

Perform a System Diagnostics Test:

  • Many HP laptops have a built-in diagnostic tool. You can access this tool during startup by pressing the Esc key and then selecting the appropriate option from the menu.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
