HP pavilion 690-0011
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi we have a HP pavilion 690-0011 desktop gaming PC and have bought an MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Aero ITX8G OC graphics card which came without cables. We have been told by a repair shop that this PC is not able to have any upgrades  and is not compatible with graphics card. Do you know if this is correct?

Greetings,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

There are seven iterations of the 690-0011 product. I have looked at the 690-0011no (Link).

This product has a PCIe x16 slot capable of running a newer graphics card. It has a 310 watt proprietary power supply.

You need a 500 watt HP PSU and one eight pin connection from the PSU to power the card. The 1070 must fit in your chassis to use the card. A typical 1070 is about 10.5 inches in length.

HP makes a 500 watt PSU that may work with your PC if this card will fit in your chassis. @wb2001 may be able to help.

I believe this 500 watt PSU will fit with some caveats.

Regards

This spreadsheet will explain the various HP proprietary PSU part numbers.  A video shows your 690 series.
