Hi @TheCatDrive,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

It seems your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-2002no is experiencing a common limitation in prebuilt systems where the BIOS might restrict certain settings, like enabling XMP profiles, to prevent potential compatibility or stability issues. Here’s how you can address the issue with your new DDR4 RAM running at a lower speed:

Steps to Resolve the RAM Speed Issue:

Verify Motherboard and BIOS Capabilities:

  • Check the motherboard’s specifications in the user manual or on HP's website to confirm supported RAM speeds. Many prebuilt systems limit RAM speeds to the default JEDEC standard, which is typically lower than the advertised XMP speeds.

Ensure RAM Compatibility:

  • Verify that your new RAM is listed as compatible with your specific motherboard model. Even if the frequency matches, compatibility can depend on the motherboard’s memory QVL (Qualified Vendor List).

Update the BIOS:

  • Update the BIOS for your PC by clicking on the link.

Make sure you keep only the charger plugged in while updating the BIOS for your PC.

Click on the + sign next to BIOS and then download the file.

Open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

Check Installed RAM Slots:

  • Ensure your RAM sticks are installed in the correct slots (usually alternating slots for dual-channel mode, like slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4).

Manual Timing Adjustment (If Possible):

  • In systems with limited BIOS functionality, there’s often no way to enable XMP or manually adjust RAM timings. If the option is present:
    • Enter the BIOS setup.
    • Look for RAM frequency settings under "Advanced" or "Memory Configuration."
    • Manually set the RAM speed, timings, and voltage to match the specifications of your new RAM (3200 MHz, CL16, ~1.35V).
    • Save and reboot.

Check Installed RAM Slots:

Make sure the device supports 64GB ram configuration.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
