OMEN 40L Desktop PC GT21-0000a (3G5Z0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I just got an Omen 40L from Best Buy.  The model is listed as GT21-0184 / 328Q1AA#ABA.  I'm wanting to upgrade the RAM to aftermarket RAM and understand I can adjust the speeds via Ryzen Master or via the BIOS XMP if the updated bios has been released. It appears this model after all software updates is on version F.08 even though the HP website lists version F.07 for my specific model when entering the model # (Entering the serial number brings up nothing, computer was manufactured in 2/2022).  The HP website auto identifies the computer as "GT21-0000a (3G5Z0AV)".  When searching for GT21-0184 there are two model that come up GT21-0000a and GT21-0000i I notice there is BIOS F.12 released in February 2022 for model GT21-0000i but my computer as identified is still on F.08 when you do the auto detect on hp support.  Two questions, can I use the GT21-0000i F.12 Bios on my model? If not, when will the F.12 be released for GT21-0000a?

Thanks

Ok I figured out that the SSID of the board is what is important to BIOS updates mine is showing SSID 8949 and that other F.12 was for SSID 8917.  I hope there is a BIOS update soon for this new model or the support page is updated with what F.08 fixed.   I'm not sure when F.08 was even released or what it entails because the support page just lists F.07 for this SSID and it was released 11/16/2021.  I guess I will find out when I get my RAM and see if the Advanced menu is in the bios?

hi

curiously the SSID of a motherboard does not make a difference here
to have the option, it is normally necessary to have the OC model

Overclocking with AMD CPUs

Use the overclocking screen to adjust the current performance level of the computer and view the history of adjustments made.

Note:

The End-User License Agreement must be accepted to use the overclocking tools.

Note:

AMD overclocking is available only on certain computer models with an unlocked processor, including the OMEN by HP 880-p0xx, OMEN 25L GT11-1xxx, and OMEN 25L GT12-1xxx Desktop series.

The first time that the overclocking screen is opened, a prompt displays to get started using the tutorial. This option can be skipped by experienced overclockers. The tutorial uses a red dot to demonstrate the steps to successfully overclock the computer.

Thanks for the reply but I'm not sure what overclocking has to do with the issue.  I'm simply asking about BIOS updates for this model that specifically allow the use of aftermarket RAM.  HP has been releasing BIOS updates for the OMEN line that allow the use of aftermarket RAM but not all models have gotten the update.

I'm talking about what you say here

Solved: Re: Overclocking RAM in the BIOS - HP Support Community - 8166347

From what I've seen you should probably already have the possibility to do it, but nothing specific, especially since there is no mention of the update you are talking about, therefore, no information of what this adds as a modification
read the documents carefully, and if nothing, it's not yet compatible
and we are not in a position here to say whether or not this will be the case.

Well it’s promising because “4. Adds Non-HP memory OC support page under BIOS setup menu” was exactly what I was looking for. Hopefully even though the SSID is different those changes are in my F.12 as well. I will find out when I plug that RAM in lol. Fingers crossed!

If the SSID is different, the update should not be possible
