OMEN 40L Desktop PC GT21-0000a (3G5Y9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I bought a pc not long ago and had to send it back due to a different issue they replaced it with new one but since using it I have had nothing but issues not sure if it is due to bad RAM or Faulty CPU. Benchmarking the pc I get really good results and even on the diagnostics tool provided by HP nothing shows up saying it has issues.

At first it was small freezes where the videos and sound would slow down and speed back up and create a annoying sound for about 3-5 seconds but now it has gotten worse.

Those freezes have now turned into 30 second to 1 min but it just completely frozen and outputs very bad noise.

I also get a greenscreen sometimes when I turn pc on and it tries booting up I hear the windows sound through my headphones but displays green.

Sometimes my other SSD and Hard Drives aren't recognised on the pc so I have to restart in order for pc to recognise them.

I have tried everything to fix this. I have no new update as pc is up to date.

monitored temps, CPU and ram usage.

I have noticed that when those lag spikes happen the CPU and RAM runs at 100%

This even happens when pc is idle

From what I can tell (Services and controller app) (Microsoft search index) (shell hardware detection) are causing the freezing

benchmarked pc countless time and still I get this issue

Other pc didn't have this issue.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Omen 40L freezing issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like you're experiencing intermittent issues with your HP PC that could be related to hardware or software problems. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Update Software and Drivers

Ensure that your operating system, drivers, and firmware are up to date. This can often resolve various performance and stability issues.

  • Windows Update: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.
  • HP Support Assistant: Use HP Support Assistant to automatically update drivers and firmware. If you don’t have it installed, you can download it from the HP website.

2. Check for Software Conflicts

Sometimes software conflicts can cause the symptoms you're describing.

  • Safe Mode: Boot your PC in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. If it doesn’t, it’s likely that a software conflict is causing the issue.
  • Clean Boot: Perform a clean boot to help identify if any startup programs are creating conflicts.

3. Test the RAM and CPU

Even though the diagnostics tools didn't report an issue, you can run more specific tests.

  • HP Diagnostics: Run the extensive test from the HP Diagnostics tool found in the BIOS.
    • Restart your computer and press F2 repeatedly during startup to enter System Diagnostics.
    • Run Memory Test and CPU Test.

4. Check for Overheating

Ensure that your PC is not overheating, as this can cause system instability.

  • Task Manager: Check the CPU and memory usage under load.
  • Temperature Monitoring Tools: Use tools like HWMonitor to check the CPU and GPU temperatures.

5. Reinstall the Operating System

If the above steps don’t resolve the issue, it might be beneficial to back up your data and perform a clean installation of Windows. This can eliminate any software-related issues.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
