Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I have gone through your Post and would like to assist

May I know since when are you facing this issue? Were there any recent updates?

Let's uninstall the Omen Control and then download the latest version

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click System on the Settings menu.
  4. Select Apps & features from the left pane. ...
  5. Select Omen Control app and uninstall.
  6. Follow the onscreen instructions

Restart the computer and download the Omen Control from this Link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp76501-77000/sp76864.exe

Also install the System Event Utility from this Link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp69001-69500/sp69229.exe

You can refer to this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c05238081 for more information on configuring the LED light

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

@SSean

If the issue started recently, you can try a System Restore to an earlier time before this problem started

- Select the Start button, type control panel and then choose it from the list of results.
- Search Control Panel for Recovery.
- Select Recovery > Open System Restore > Next.
- Choose the restore point related to the start of the issue and then select Next > Finish.

Try changing the desktop lighting and let me know how it goes

Thank you 😊

Control software lost control over the lights one-two months ago in my case.

Colours are stuck @ rainbow settings and cannot be changed.

I guess it's something to do with HP System Event utility (now v.1.4.30) that got installed few weeks earlier - I have been playing with it before and that was the culprit then.

I may play with v1.4.20 still available

Or even previous, straight from the box, version as it did work for me.

But honestly: I gave up. It has never been resolved by HP correctly - and the fact that numerous people complain on this forum is the proof of it.

OK, so found some spare time today and I can confirm with 100% certainty: only this combination of Omen Control and HP System Event does work correctly on my PC and allows for its lights to be controlled:

I got these very versions from HP Recovery Manager -> Reinstall Driver Or Applications:

Not sure what SP version for Omen Control is there though. For HP System Event 1.4.11 I found this one:

To add: the only drawback is that upon each logoff or restart and only when CPU Tempeature or CPU Utilisation schemes are chosen, LEDs are stuck with the last reading available (so prior to log off or restart) until Omen Control app opened again.

Otherwise it works as I expect.

In the view of numerous versions / updates of both HP System Event and Omen Control app available I think It would be good for HP to clearly indicate which versions do work correctly, and which not. And what are the other effects of using out of date HP System Event instance?

(I have a feeling that i reported it to / requested all this from HP in the past and got nowhere with it).

That is the same version the OP has installed now. While that might be helpful if you uninstall Windows someday, I need to find out why HP is not allowing us to download the files from the drivers pages also.

I will post what I find. I might not get any further than you did Krezmian. Lets hope the sqeeky wheel gets oiled.

Well, there are 2 questions here:

1. Why HP Event / Omen Control combo that's available online does not work, but the one supplied with the PC opn the recovery partition does:

My PC:

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/OMEN-by-HP-870-000-Desktop-PC-series/11084748/model...

Omen 870 Series:

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/OMEN-by-HP-870-000-Desktop-PC-series/11084748/

2. More importantly, why Omen Control that's available on these very pages (see above under Utility Tools,  direct links below):

My PC:

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/OMEN-by-HP-870-000-Desktop-PC-series/1108...

Omen 870 Series:

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/OMEN-by-HP-870-000-Desktop-PC-series/1108...

is older than the one supplied with the PC on the recovery partition?

What I did was uninstall Omen Command Center Reinstalled it but it only gave me the option to do the logo and not the inside lights so if you run into that problem what you do is you run Omen Command Center as Administrator
