HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop - 850-150qe CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Can my machine be upgraded to any of the following? (HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop 850-150qe CTO Intel CORE i7-4790 3.6G)

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Eight-Core Processor (16 CPUs), ~3.7GHz

Intel i5 7000 series

AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core Processor (16 CPUs), ~3.9GHz

Intel i5 11000 series

Or should I just start over with a new computer?

TIA !

Hi:

Your PC only supports the Intel 4th gen core processors.

No AMD processor would be supported in your PC, even one contemporary to an Intel 4th gen core processor.

If you are interested in upgrading your PC to meet Microsoft's W11 hardware requirements and if you want to install W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2.

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.
