OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop PC GT15-1000i (6J775AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

My 1 year warranty has just expired last week and now all the sudden my pc is having difficulties on turning on. I have the Omen 25-L Gaming pc and it’s been amazing until a couple of days ago. I press down on the power button and just hope for the best. I notice after a while of holding it down and then press it again, it turns on. It’s quite frustrating that every time I use it now I gotta wait like 30 minutes to turn it on. Could it possibly be the power button itself or something more like the psu? I would like to note that I did hp system extensive testing and it has passed all test. Please, do let me know what you guys think.

Any help will be greatly appreciated! 🙂

Greetings @Carmen117

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Good observation; it could be the power button or the power supply. And possibly, an intermittent MB problem.

Try the following or have a local PC Tech take a look:

Disconnect the PC from AC power.

Depress and hold down the power button a few times to drain residual MB power.

Remove the M.2 system drive to avoid Windows corruption.

Disconnect the MB Front_Panel power cable. This MB connection should be near the front of the case.

Power on the PC using a screwdriver:

Reconnect AC power.

Now short the MB two pin power connector using a screwdriver to check power on behavior. Doing this will start the PC without using the power button.

Shut down the PC (disconnect from AC power) and repeat the screwdriver power on procedure many times to check power on behavior.

The power button would have a problem if the PC consistently powers on.

The MB or the PSU has a problem if you see continuing inconsistent power on behavior.
