Hi all,
I have had this issue for a few months with my PC. I purchased an OMEN 25L a few years a go and everything has been running fine until a few months ago. I noticed a loud fan noise and discoverd through GPU-Z and MSI Afterburner that it was Fan 2 on my graphics card which is stuck at 100%.
When I try to manually change the fan speed in Afterburner there is no response.
Everything is upto date and the issue itself is very random. I am just really curious if anyone else has had the same problem or any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm guessing the sensor is faulty but unlike my fan I am not 100% sure lol.
The only upgrade I have made is the SSD which is 1TB Samsung SSD 970EVO Plus.
I have attached some screenshots.
Thanks in advance.

Hi @AdamBarlow,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with the GPU fan on your OMEN 25L GT11 Desktop PC. Here are a few steps and suggestions to help diagnose and potentially resolve the issue.
Check GPU Drivers and Software:
- Ensure that your GPU drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the GPU manufacturer's website (NVIDIA or AMD).
- Update or reinstall GPU monitoring software like MSI Afterburner and GPU-Z to ensure they are functioning correctly.
Inspect Physical Connection:
- Power off your PC, unplug it, and open the case. Check the physical connection of the GPU and its fans to ensure there are no loose connections or visible damage.
- Clean any dust or debris from the GPU and fans using compressed air.
Test with Different Software:
- Try using different fan control software like EVGA Precision X1 or ASUS GPU Tweak to see if the fan responds to manual adjustments in those programs.
Check for BIOS/UEFI Updates:
- Check if there are any BIOS/UEFI updates available for your motherboard and apply them if necessary. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve hardware compatibility issues.
Reset BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Reset your BIOS/UEFI settings to default to rule out any configuration issues that might be causing the fan to run at 100%.
Potential Causes and Solutions
Faulty Fan Sensor:
- If the sensor on the GPU fan is faulty, it could be causing the fan to run at full speed.
Firmware or Driver Conflict:
- Sometimes, conflicts between different versions of firmware and drivers can cause erratic fan behavior. Ensuring all software and firmware are up to date is crucial.
Faulty GPU Fan:
- The fan itself might be malfunctioning. If the fan is replaceable, you could try replacing it with a compatible fan. If it's not replaceable, you might need to consider replacing the GPU.
By following these steps, you should be able to identify whether the issue is software-related, hardware-related, or a combination of both.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
