Wait... when I picked a backup option it keeps taking me back to the backup option after it successfully backed up the selected files... Do I just recover without backing up your files after successfully backing up my files the first time? (Sorry if this question sounded stupid) first time really doing anything like this.

Something isnt right. Plus if you reinstall windows then you can rule that out thats its not a software issueif the freezing returns. In my gut tells me its either its a software issue ram issue or a hhd issue

Back up any needed files like pictures, documents, etc first like I pointed out.

Then run the HP Recovery. Choose to recover without backing up.

Well... like SixtyfpsGaming pointed out, it might very well be a bad drive and it just wasnt detected in Diagnostics.

Did you mention if you are still under warranty? If so, you may want to contact HP for a claim.
