Hi All,

My PC is the OMEN 45L Gaming DT GT22-0465xt PC

When I enable secure boot I get a message that says secure boot violation. I had a friend who works in IT walk me through the following but I still recieved the error message after. Please help!

FULL BIOS RECOVERY
updating Bios

Firmware reset
Resetting BIOs via command prompt / - I think we restored default setting on this one.
Loading default setting and clearing keys in bios.

None of these worked. Any other ideas?

Lastly, secure boot was working fine for the last few years and then I restarted my computer one time and got the error. Just want to enable it to play video games that require secure boot

Hi @Trebuchet1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how  it must be to suddenly see a Secure Boot Violation after years of smooth operation, especially when it prevents you from playing games that require it.

Could you please confirm:

Whether you recently installed or updated any hardware (like a new GPU, storage drive, or expansion card).

If you’ve made any changes to the operating system (such as reinstalling Windows or switching to another OS).

Here are a few steps you can try:

Check Secure Boot keys: In BIOS, under Secure Boot, ensure that the factory default keys are restored. Sometimes clearing keys without reloading defaults can cause violations.

Verify Boot Mode: Make sure your system is set to UEFI mode, not Legacy . Secure Boot only works with UEFI.

Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or unsigned drivers (especially GPU drivers) can trigger Secure Boot violations.

Check Storage Drive: If the boot drive has corrupted boot files, Secure Boot may fail. Running a disk check or repairing Windows boot files could help.

Reinstall Windows Bootloader: Sometimes the bootloader gets unsigned or corrupted. A repair using Windows installation media can restore it.

Since Secure Boot was working fine before, this usually points to either a corrupted bootloader, a driver signing issue, or BIOS key mismatch. Enter BIOS (F10 at startup), navigate to Security > Secure Boot Configuration, clear existing keys, and load HP factory default keys

I hope this helps.
