Upgrade

Looking for help/recommendations( motherboard,ram,CPU) in upgrading my omen because recently I slowly  gotten back into PC gaming. The only changes I made so far from the original setup of the omen is : Corsair 650x psu, Geforce GTX 1660.

The article refers to moving your motherboard to a new case, but the same considerations are applicable when installing a new motherboard into a HP case.  HP has their cases and motherboards made to their specifications.  Therefore, they are not necessarily the same as a retail version.  The holes in the motherboard matching the stand-offs in the case is the major concern.

Crucial is the retail division of Micron.  So, they make good products.  Their Ballistix memory is fast.  Another consideration would be one of their M.2, SSD's, as a boot drive.  This will give you much faster boot times and loading times.  The SSD's are at the bottom of the page in the link that I provided.  I won't have another computer without a SSD boot drive; especially for gaming.

The fastest processor that has been fully tested to be compatible with your motherboard is the AMD Ryzen7-1800X (Summit Ridge) 3.6 GHz, 8 cores/16 threads.  From what I have read, this processor will give you a major performance boost along with the memory upgrade.  Adding a M.2, SSD, will only make it that much better.

Using the current motherboard will save you money and with the upgrades that I have recommended, I believe you will have a very good gaming computer.  Of course, the decision is fully up to you.  If you have questions about any of my recommendations, you can do some research and contact the Tech Support for the products.  I will be glad to answer any further questions that you have.

I found the model in one of your previous threads.  Please verify that I have the correct model before buying any of the components.  If it is correct, the fastest processor that you can use is the AMD Ryzen7-1800X (Summit Ridge) 3.6 GHz, 8 cores/16 threads.  It has been fully tested to assure that it is compatible with the motherboard.  You will find this information in the link that I provided in the section titled "Processor/Processor upgrade information".  Any other processors will most likely not work.  HP has their motherboards and other components made to their specifications and only test certain processors for each model.

The memory and M.2, SSD, are correct.  If you have further questions about their products I suggest contacting their Tech Support for help.  They have always been very helpful.  Any of their products that they recommend are guaranteed to work.

I do have a Omen 880-068 but what would recommend for next best cpu for my setup.

• Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:

As I stated in my previous post, any other processors will most likely not work.  The 1800X is your best choice.

Thought you said the only processor thought would work for me was the amd ryzen 7 1800x and a not ryzen 7 2700x.

I don't know what I was looking at when I recommended the other processor.  They are a bit expensive, but the performance should be tremendous.
